First entry in the field journal

Wild is animal photography at portrait distance — close enough to meet the eye. A bald eagle mid-flight with every primary feather resolved. A silverback in black and white, entirely unbothered. A red fox looking directly down the lens. An Atlantic puffin being absurd and dignified simultaneously. The black-and-white work is the more serious half — stripped of colour, a tiger becomes structure and stare. The colour work is for rooms that want a jolt of the outdoors on a grey day. A canvas print suits the flight shots especially well: no glass, no reflection, nothing between the room and the bird. Several portraits also run as phone cases, where the eye contact still works at small scale. Everything is printed to order. Three below: an eagle in flight, an eagle portrait, and a puffin. Eye to eye with the wild.
