First entry in the observation log

Constellation is what happens when you cannot decide between the observatory and the drive-in. Half the shop is classical: star charts drawn the old way, zodiac plates with navy and gold, constellation figures traced in the manner of an 18th-century almanac. The other half is the sky as we imagined it later — Hubble-inspired galaxies, atomic-age flying saucers, surreal portraits of things that have not introduced themselves. Both halves are about the same feeling — standing outside at night and realising how much is above you — and they hang together without arguing. Zodiac prints make good gifts because they are personal without being risky. Galaxies are for the wall you want people to stop in front of. Everything is printed to order.
